Hi, how would I remove an engineer installed face plate and go back to a regular phone socket with a splitter for ADSL?
Thanks in advance.

I can think of several reasons why I might want to so I will tell the OP how to do it.
First find the original face plate which the engineer should have left with you.
Remove all cables from the telephone and ADSL sockets on the face plates.
Unscrew the two small screws on the sides of the ADSL face plate and gently ease the face plate away from the main part of the master switch.
Move all the wires from the back of the face plate to the same numbered connection on the ordinary face plate. You will need an Krohn tool for this.
Replace the original face plate and put the cables which were in the ADSL face plate telephone socket into the original.
If you don't have the original face plate I have no idea where you get one short of buying a complete NTE5 socket. A more extensive search on Google might find something. Finding a krohn tool should not be a problem. If this is all you would want it for, a cheap plastic one would last long enough.

As do several others. I was concerned to find the faceplate alone but I suppose the cost of distribution and stock of such a rarely needed item would not make it any cheaper than the entire box.

( cough cough) I don't recall be informed to leave the faceplate behind.

The OP will have more luck looking for a 'krone' tool, like this

Won't matter, they will more than likely use a screwdriver / kitchen knife anyhow!

Screwdrivers and knives do not work with the VJU range ...
They have a new(ish) style of termination and a IDC tool 2A is a must.

I assumed something because that is what happened on the one occasion I had an engineer installation. (At that time there wasn't a choice, at least with my then ISP).
Re: Krohn/Krone, I wondered if this was a peculiarity of Solwise who spell it Krohn. They do not appear to be alone in the same mistake:

I remember now who makes the tool (or, at least, made the first).

Errrrrm...Unscrew engineer installed faceplate, unplug it, (I am assuming you mean an ADSL faceplate) and plug in old faceplate then plug in filter. QED
