How about a nice 'B-grade' refurbished Speedtouch 546 from DSL Depot?

Cool.
The Speedtouch 546 is a damn good router (so far, the best and most stable, out of a Netgear DG834Gv2, Belkin 7633, BT Voyager something-or-other).

Aw, shame. I recently bought the ADSL2MUE and I wouldn't give it up for the world.

I've had 4 different DSL routers including the ADSL2MUE; a Cisco, A Zyxel, and a generic Mentor one. This one is the best yet out of all of them. It seems to give me much better speeds, less latency, and offers more options for customisation.

Many people don't like the ADSL2MUE because in its default state, it doesn't appear to give much functionality or port forwarding, but there is a Beta firmware released by Linksys which I use and it works well and offers lots of functionality. Also, this router allows you to log into it through SSH and use Linux iptables commands to configure it, making it a very powerful piece of kit.
