ADSL connection goes into a limbo state

[link to this post]

Hi
I am trying to sort out a friends ADSL connection and have run out of ideas please can you help?

Before I descibe the problem I will start by saying we have tried several different routers and are confident it is not an issue with the hardware (but I may be wrong).

What is happening is turn the router on and connect to the internet and it works perfectly, then we go away for an hour and come back and cannot get any internet access.

The router tells me it is connected and all looks okay but we have to reboot the router to get access again.

As I have said we have tried several different routers without any problems and even taken them to another location for testing and they work fine.

One last point we are on a Karoo internet connection.

Please help

Is the router "idle timeout" set to 0 (no timeout)?

I have set the timeout to 360 minutes and when you start using the internet again it is well within that time.
