Over the past 2 days while online gaming, I experience what sems to be lag spikes every couple of minutes which freezes/stutters the game for a few secs before returning back to normal (by which time I've either been killed, or killed myself with a grenade!).
My ingame pings are good (~30ms) and I've recorded good download speeds of up to 6MB (I'm on ADSL MAX).
I've done a tweak test on dslreports.com which said a 2+ second stall was detected - could this be causing the issues I'm seeing and what causes/resolves it?
Doing a tracert to bbc.co.uk, on 2 of the hops it takes about 10 seconds to display the IP addresses for those hops whereas all other hops display instantly.
I'm a software techie, not a network/hardware techie so I'm in need of help!
