Using Telephone causes connection to drop?

[link to this post]

I noticed one day that when somebody made a call from the downstairs phone (connected to an filtered extension socket, was previously the master socket) that my connection would drop from a sync of 6800kbps (SNR Margin 7dB) down to 4400kbps (SNR Margin 13dB). Even when somebody just picked up the phone, this seemed to lead to a deterioration of the SNR Margin (from 7-4dB)

However this only seemed to occur on that one specific day? As the problem no longer seems to occur. However as a result i now constantly sync at 6560 with an SNR Margin of 7-8dB and I have fallen below the BRAS profile of 6000kbps which is what I had previously.

The question i have, is there anything I can do to get my sync speed back to what it was? (6800-7200kbps) or do I just have to live with it?

Any advice/feedback/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Note: Currently I use the ADSLnation filtered faceplate at my master socket(master socket was moved from downstairs to my computer room) which is what i use to connect my router to.

I'm not sure you'll get too many replies. Your connection speed has dropped by 150k - that's not unusual, long term.

All I can suggest is that you remove the faceplate and connect to the test socket behind. Although the filtered faceplate should remove any issues with the internal wiring, it may not be wired correctly, and this test will establish the fact or eliminate it.

Being pedantic it's actually nearer 500kbps, but basically is there is nothing i can do? It seemed to occur after a sudden burst of noise when using the downstairs telephone one night? Why hasnt my sync speeds returned to what they were before? Since ADSL MAX i never synced near 6500kbps.. I was generally always nearly 7000kbps and regularly above it.

I'm not too bothered by the sync speeds but more by the fact that my BRAS profile has dropped to the one below.

How long ago did the drop occur? It will take at least three days to recover.

I'll give it a go, but with the same wiring on the filtered faceplate I was syncing nearer 7200kbps. This reduction of speed has only seemed to occur after the issue i had with the downstairs telephone knocking out my connection one specific day.

Probably about 10 days. The BRAS has jumped and has risen to match the sync but the sync has dropped enough so that the BRAS profile is not the same as it was before.

Which suggests a problem with the phone, wiring, or filtered faceplate. Start with the basic test and then introduce the variables. Fwiw, I had a stable connection for months, then it died completely. BT came out and regularised my wiring (although BT installed, the master was one of four sockets radiating off from the cable entry point) and all has been well since. Nothing had changed on the surface, but clearly something had gone out of tolerance enought to drop the connection.
