Re: Using Telephone causes connection to drop?

I take it you've been through a re-boot with the router? If you still don't get back to the sync you had, it suggests local conditions have deteriorated - maybe even your line (a joint somewhere, perhaps).

I have re-booted the router roughly once a day for a few days. Anyway something has definitely deteriorated, I just hope i can get my sync back to what it was. I was also thinking of moving to Be soon (when my exchanged in enabled), so I need my line to be as good as possible.

Thanks for the suggestions rikbean, I'll try it out and i'll get back to you soon.

Update connected router directly into the test socket via a microfilter, the sync speed actually went down from 6657kbps (SNR Margin 7) to 6528kbps (SNR Margin 8). Went back to the same setup as before and the sync went even further down to 6432 (SNR Margin of 8).

Is there anything else I can try? Do i just accept the fact that the quality of my line has deteriorated? Or can I call BT (via ISP) to do anything? Is there anything else i can do?

I notice on occasions that the SNR Margin drops instantly by 2 (from 7 to 5) when somebody uses a specific phone. But it seems to be intermittent?

Any comments/advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

if a specific phone causes problems, and other phones do not, then try double filtering the offending phone or using a better filter or replacing the phone.

Even if i already have a filtered faceplate at the master socket?

Btw is there anything I can do with the deterioration in the quality of my phone line?

Yes. Its still just a filter so it can fail or faced with a lousy phone be inadequate.

What's the evidence that the line has deteriorated ?

Well I used to sync at 7000-7200kbps regularly with an SNR Margin of 7dB. After the issue described above. I cannot seem to sync higher than 6500kbps with the same SNR. More noise/interference being caused from somewhere?

Nothing has changed from my end. Router connected to the same place (filtered faceplate) , no new phones added. Removing all phones makes no difference.

you seem to provide evidence that it is a phone that causes the problem ? or have I lost track.

Initially it was the phone that caused a problem on one particular day where it caused me to resync at much lower speeds, but since then, even with the problem phone connected or disconnected the sync speed has dropped roughly 700kbps and hasnt changed with the SNR Margin only increasing slightly for the lower sync (7-8dB, whereas before, this SNR Margin was the same with a sync above 7000kbps).
