Quick Q: Interleaving

[link to this post]

Hi,

Interleaving is set to Auto on my line, and as currently active.
I think that a change in faulty equipment my end has eradicated the high numbers (millions) of errors I was previously getting on my line - which I assume was the reason interleaving was switched on for my line in the first place.

So, am I right to assume that interleaving will automatically be switched off once this reduction in errors has been detecetd? If so, how long does this take?

I think you have to request it to be switched off via your ISP.

I'm aware there are 3 states - Auto, On or Off. I thought that by requesting it to be switched off would force it to be off always? Whereas I'd like it still to be set automatically if for some reason in the future I started getting more errors again

the three states are opt-in opt-out and auto. Then there is the current status of on or off. You need to ask for it to be turned off and left in Auto from what you've said.

Ok thanks - so despite it's status "Auto" it's not truly automatic?

I don't know if it will turn it off or not, but I doubt it. The default is interleaving off and in auto, so it can turn it on when it needs to.

'Auto' seems to be one-way, at least in my experience - once it moves to 'On' it stays on. There's a problem with asking for the 'Opt Out' option at present......BT are said to be starting work on it on Nov. 3rd.

That's what I suspected. I want to stay on Auto and just have it "reset" of off now - i'll keep an eye on it for a bit longer and then see what my ISP say.

Cheers
