GPO extention box

[link to this post]

I saw a customer today and they wish to install broadband. There is a BT box in the hall with a lead to the bedroom and one to the living room(both BT) and one that goes up to the ceiling and reappears in the ceiling of the kitchen and comes down to an old GPO oblong box. We put filters on all the extentions but still cannot get an ADSL signal. My educated guess is the GPO extention is messing up the ADSL signal and would need removing as it does not appear to connect to anything.
Anybody any other thoughts please?

Assuming the phones work, then perhaps the ADSL signal has not been activated yet.
