Internal wiring has been sorted. Now What??

[link to this post]

Ok, always rcving slow speeds of 288kbs and router syncing at 1meg, we had a look at our internal wiring and after goign through all the sockets and disconnecting unwanted wiring, I am now syncing at 2.5megs.

Do I notify eclipse and advise them of this so they can change my profile, also, as quoted

I'm quite surprised that your current noise margin is about 14dB - the default is 6dB - it could be that in the recent past you have had noise on your line which may have caused disconnections, so BT may have automatically jacked up your SNR margin to improve stability. When you've made your improvements to the wiring, you may need to get your ISP to get BT to restore the default margin.

Can I contact BT directly or do I ask my isp to contact them regarding the noise margin?

thanks

You will probably have to contact your ISP. You could try waiting a few days to see if the systems automatically drop the margin to increase your line rate.
You cannot contact BT directly , you have to go through your ISP

Also, on samknows it used to report back that I could rcvd 2meg, then it decreased to 0.5, but now all the internal wiring is sorted when will this give a true result?

The margin should follow within 72 hours, but only if the sync speed has remained stable (i.e. not dropped during the hours of darkness).
