ADSL freezes when i'm on the phone

[link to this post]

I'm on ukonline 8meg, and since moving into my new flat the internet doesn't respond whenever i'm using my landline phone. As soon as i hang up, the net is fine.

I've changed the micro filter but no difference. I only have one modem and one phone in the flat and they're both connected to the same socket. Any ideas?

Try another microfilter. Some of the cheap ones don't work too well. If that fails, get in touch with your ISP, because you probably have a line fault.

Also try 2 filters in series for the phone if it is DECT. SOmetimes does the trick for a dodgy phone.

One thing worth checking is if BT or whoever wired the phone line to the master socket have actually connected the drop wires the correct way round.
I had a problem with losing sync when the phone was in use and when it rang. I did all the checks, i.e removed all ring wires, new filters, even re-terminated all extensions using proper Krone tool.

Decided one day to actually check the voltage on the terminals in the master socket where the drop wire was connected, T2 should be approx -50v and T5 0v measured to earth. I found this was reversed, most filters have diodes and the ADSL nation filter which I use also has transistors inside which are polarity conscious so the filters were not working fully. I reversed the connections in the extension where my ADSL is taken from and the problem was completely cured.
