wiring help please

[link to this post]

Been to check someones wiring as they have just gone to MAX from a half meg connection.

Incoming pair on master socket connected to terminals [idc] 2[blue/white] and 5[white/blue]. LJU type socket, not nte5.

One single extension upstairs for router/modem.

How should the extension be wired to the master socket? Is it also punched down into idc terminals 2[blue/white] and 5[white/blue]? ontop of the incoming pair.

Just needs to be wired the same both ends to 2+ 5 using any single colour pair e.g white/blue+blue/white or white/orange + orange/white.

Thanks, that was I was doing but the extension won't work and I lose dial tone on the master. I'm using a proper insertion tool.

2 x blue/white in terminal 2, and 2 white/blue in terminal 5. Upstairs extension lju is blue/white in 2 and white/blue in 5.

Try another pair e.g. orange, you may have damaged cable . Also disconnect the modem + filters as they maybe faulty.

OK, thanks. Everything ok now, it was a bad connection on the extension lju socket.
