Line Fault?

[link to this post]

My line has regularly connected somewhere between 4 and 5mb.
Tonight I had a random loss in sync and reconnected at 3968kbps.
I wasn't too worried.

My line stats are:

Downstream Attenuation: 44db
Noise Margin: usually sits between 6db to 12db. This is in the test socket of my master socket.

Then my line loses sync again and connected at 160kbps! Upload remained connected at 448kbps. I thought this could be a one-off, and checked my stats expecting to see a high noise margin, only to see it hovering at 9db!

I rebooted my router, and got the same results, still connected at an appalling 160kbps.

I then changed to a couple of spare microfilters and rebooted my router - but same results.

So I left it for a while, then tried again, and I'm now finding my router is connecting at around 832kbps, 1088kbps, 1376kbps, back down to 1088kbps, and at the moment, its at the highest its been since earlier this evening, at 1600kbps. Noise margin is fluctuating between 5db and 12db. So its holding yes, but its 3 times or so lower than it ever has been. I've also tried using a different router, to rule that out, but still same low sync speeds.

My phone now has a fuzzy, almost wind-like sound when I use it the same time the broadband is connected - this is like this even when phone and router are connected at Test socket behind lower front plate of master socket. If I unplug router, then the noise goes.

Even if I have just the router plugged into a microfilter into the test socket, no phones, my speed is still really low to how it has been.

Sorry for the long read, if you put up with it! I've tried contacting my ISP earlier this evening but was in a queue for a long while on the phone and have given up until tomorrow and raised an online ticket.

I have previously had a fault on my line a couple of months ago that took about 3 weeks to get BT to fix, it was a fault where my broadband was ok speed-wise but it just lost connection a lot. But it was a Voice Fault as the noise on the line was always there even with just a phone plugged into the test socket. Whereas this problem is only there if the internet is on as well as the phone.

Since you have done al the correct tests, and the fault is only apparent when the broadband is in use, then you must report this via your ISP.

Thanks for confirming I've done the correct tests, I thought I had.
And thats why I've made contact with my ISP, hopefully they'll ring me tomorrow and can get an ADSL Engineer out. Its annoying that I'm going to have to wait 3 days most probably for my 135k profile to lift as well.
