Recovering from a phone line fault ?

[link to this post]

Up to a couple of weeks ago my broadband always connected at 8125 Kbps, then the line deteriorated and I noticed the latency suddenly double, presumably interleaving being applied to the line. anyway as the line was audibly noisy I reported the line as faulty and after the wire to the telegraph pole was changed the line now seems fine.

Now to my question if the line is now "noise free" and If Interleaving is set to the default value of Auto (as I understand it.) will Interleaving set itself to off after a few days of trouble free performance or is the automatic switch on, a one way process. Also will interleaving affect my connection (sync) speed as this is now a slightly reduced 6500 - 7500 kbps.

Thanks in advance for any help

The jury is still out as to whether interleaving is ever automatically switched off after being switched on.

Some modems still sync at 8128 with interleave on (my D-Link DSL-G604T does), most don't.

You'll need to ask your ISP to have interleaving switched off. However, many reports suggest that BT isn't wholly capable where this is concerned.
Interleaving should only have a noticeable effect where latency is concerned.
