hi there im quite knowledgable when it comes to pc's as i am an it technician myself but my knowledge of adsl is a bit rough but i hope someone can help.
i have recently upgraded from 2mb to 8mb adsl with aol. the day after i ordered 8mb upgrade my router showed 8128kbps connection good i thought its done but as before i could still only download at 240KB/s which is 2mb.
during the 10 days (stabalisation period) i had seen no change in download speed at all only up speed went to 390kbps so i rang aol tech support they said may have prob on line so engineer was called out.
when he checked my line with his laptop and a trusty voyager modem it came back as connection of 7.1mb and 1db line loss (i am less than 300 meters from exchange).
but just before he arrived i noticed my speed increased to 4500kbps. still i am only recieving 4500kbps is this correct or is aol or bt still limiting my speed? also how come i have not seen any difference in speed during stabalisation?
any help please!!!!
malc.
