Speed Issues :(

[link to this post]

I have some issues regarding differences with Broadband Speed Test on my network.

I have BT Total Broadband 8mb. the old home PC has the following spec,

Windows XP Pro.
AMD 1.2 GHz CPU
512MB Ram
whenever i run the speed test on this website its showing as 2.3MB Connection

Now today i checked the connection with my laptop hooked up to the broadband router/home hub

and I am getting 6MB speed.
Laptop Spec is
Pentium 3 - 1.19Ghz
256MB Ram

I have tried using different network cable in the Main Unit and also tried using a different network card and also switching off firewalls and run spyware checks and everything has been removed with ad aware, search and destroy and avg spyware.

anyone any ideas?

Check the MTU and RWIN sizes using something like Dr TCP or TCP optimiser. Quite possible that they are different.
