BT Line not up to the job

[link to this post]

I've just moved in and signed up to a BT line and am not trying to get Be* activated on it. However, it is becoming apparant that the line just isn't up to it and Be seem to be struggling to get me activated (3 days overdue now). My question is, do I have any leverage with BT? If Be cannot provide the service will BT make any effort to improve my line or is it possible for me to just completely cancel BT and go with Telewest given their 12 month contracts?

Did you specify the line was to be used for broadband when you ordered? Be tend to be quite picky about the lines they take on, most other providers don't care.

If its been activated and dosnt work and you have been through the diagnostic checks with Be including using the test socket and disconnecting anything plugged in your end, then its down to Be to get Openreach to look into it, may mean a visit to you and they have some, but not much, scope to try and get broadband working.
If its not been activated and is late then Openreach should be able to provide a reason to Be.
