ADSL/Voice over same extension cable?

[link to this post]

Hi....Have fitted a ADSL Nation faceplate filter on my NTE5 and now am planning to run a dedicated broadband extension to another room where my router will be located. Will be using cat5e or cat6 for that cable run. Are there any issues with using another one of the pairs within the same cable to take a voice signal to the other room? If not, would you advise just using one pair for a 2 wire voice connection or should i use 1.5 pairs for the standard 3 wire voice extension? Does it matter?

Thanks

You can use another in the same cable. Most modern equipment will work without the ring wire amyway

Little known fact maybe - the voice signal is still present on the ADSL signal, just no ring wire signal.

The filters actually remove the ADSL signal from the voice side of things.

So if you run the extension and stick a filter at the end or neater a socket with built in filter. e.g. http://www.adslnation.com/phpapps/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=95

I think he is looking to reduce the length of extension carrying the ADSL. Using a seperate pair to carry the audio only o/p from a filtered faceplate will achieve that end. If looking to scrape the last few bps out of the line it could be worthwhile but putting the router at the master and using the proposed cat5 as ethernet to the PC would maybe scrape out even more.

Words - dedicated ADSL extension made me think of what I did.

Router at master and then Ethernet to where computer is probably best way of getting speed.
