there are quite a few filtered sockets in retail land, look better than dangly filters perhaps.

I have fitted one of those for a friend and can confirm that it has a built in filter. Works well too. He is in a known poor ADSL area, due distance from exchange, and he gets a reasonable speed (> 2MB) from his TalkTalk Broadband.
