I recently developed a fault with my broadband connection I rang up Sky who determined its probably a fault on the line. In the proces of checking to make sure, they kept asking to plug my router into the master test socket. I told them I didn't have one and they seemed suprised.
I currently have all unbranded sockets. The one in the lounge which I assume would be the master socket is unbranded too. There is no detachable faceplate so its deffinatly not the NTE5 style one.
What concerns me is that the plate is not flush agaisnt the wall, insted, two cables run out from behind the plate, down the wall and out into the outside.
I have no clue as to where these wires go, or what they connect too?
If I were to call BT to have them replace the socket with a new BT NTE5 one, would I be charged? And if so how much?
I did not alter the plate at all. It has been like that ever since I've known.
Also the only people to have touched the wiring behind the tv (Where the socket is) have been Sky Digital engineers when they came to fit the Sky+ box and cabling.
Could it have been them that added the wires that go fom behind the plate?
Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks agan.
