Wireless vs. ethernet Download Speeds

Hi i've just installed a bt homehub 2.0 after moving to Bt from Pipex- and am finding that my wireless download speeds are half that of my ethernet speeds. This was not the case with my previous equipment (speedtouch 536 and msi router) and Isp. Any ideas as to whether it is a the hardware to blame?

It could be that the wireless chipset in your computer/laptop is having trouble communicating with that of the home hub.

Have you checked to see if there is an error counter on your computer? also, that you are running the latest version of the drivers for your wireless card/device.

Thanks for your help - I updated the wireless driver and am now testing. I am definitely getting far fewer disconnections. Here's keeping my fingers crossed!

It would be worth checking whether there is a less used wireless channel in your area. Use a tool like netstumbler.
If necessary change the HomeHub channel to 1, 6 or 11.
In theory you will get the greatest link speed using a wireless 'N' adaptor on your computer.

Weird .... Inspite of changing channels and updating wireless intel driver - am still finding that download speeds on wireless are half those on ethernet. Never happened before I moved to bt and installled homehub 2.0 -

Coult it be a problem with the homehub's wireless function?
