Residential / Business Landlines & Exchange DSLAMs

[link to this post]

Hi:

I have a BT residential and a BT business landline to my house. Will the business landline be affected if I change my Internet access and residential landline rental to a provider that has LLU at my local exchange? In other words, what I am asking is does the residential and business landlines go into the same DSLAM at the exchange.

The residential and business lines do indeed have their own twisted pair of copper into the house but to dial on the business line the number nine must preceed all telephone numbers. This leads me to believe that the two landlines are some how connected.

I currently do have Internet service with Eclipse but at my exchange they are using BT wholesale.

Do you have two separate phone numbers, and does the residential number currently support a broadband connection? Or do you pay two lots of line rental, one for business and one for residential?

There should be no problem moving your residential line to LLU, it should not affect your business line in any way.

Yes we do have two separate telephone numbers. The residential line is the one that supports the broadband connection. The residential and business lines are paid for separately. The business line is used for voice only. We desire to keep the business line with BT.
