Slow broadband and low ip profile

[link to this post]

For the last 3 or 4 days my broadband connection has been very slow. I am on a very long line - BT Home Hub just states 63.5dB attenuation but its probably a lot more. I usually receive around 0.5Mb which is bad enough but now i'm receiving less than 0.1Mb. I used speedtester.bt.com and it states my ip profile is 135kbps but it was always over 500 before. Is there anything I can do to raise my ip profile without waiting as its practically unusable now.

Connection time 0 days, 10:27:08
Downstream 544 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps
Noise margin (Down/Up) 8.9 dB / 11.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 63.5 dB / 31.5 dB

I usually sync at over 700kbps but this has also gone down. Could there be a problem with my line? Sorry if i've done anything wrong. Its my first post =). Thanks

Are those stats from the test socket within a modern BT master socket?

Have you removed the ring/bell wire?

See http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php?type=html

Yes its a new house and I removed the bell wire a few months ago when I found out you could do it.

Pity.

Has any new source of interference arrived in the house? Microwave, alarm, central heating etc? Have you tried a new filter?

I'm afraid if the source of interference is external to your home the chances of a fix are less.

Possibly some interference somewhere along the line has caused the noise margin to ramp up. If the line becomies stable again, the profile should re-adjust within 72 hours. Unfortunately long lines are more susceptable to interference than shorter ones.

Left the house this morning and saw bt at the cab. Came back home and I'm getting my full 0.5mb again =). Don't know how it could have effected my ip profile but something happened and its back to the way it was. I thought 0.5mb was bad but when you don't have it for a while its great lol. Thanks for everyones help.
