I have a Thomson 585v7 on O2 running the latest Be* v8 firmware.
I am around 5km away and sync at ~ 3700 down, 920 up. This can be as high as 4500 down in quiet periods or as low as 3300 at bad times, although upstream is rarely lower than ~ 860.
Once synced the connection is usually ok for a number of days, it will usually glitch at least once a week, but is otherwise ok
Recently (about twice before going v7->v8, but severly in the last 24 hours) I've experienced an issue where my adsl connection has dropped only to reconnect, eventually (sometiems taking a number of attempts) syncing with a regular downstream speed, but with upload in the region 150-450
When I've checked the protocol is still ADSL2+. Usually a forced resync will get it back to normal.
Last night was bad -- the connection stayed low. I tried a "bt line test" in case there was any blatant analogue problem. No problem found. I also listed to the line and on at least 2 occasions am sure I heard some crackle, and clicks (like a rotary dial) but a little later there was nothing.
I have no extension wiring connected, just a master socket splitter, but as my phone is a dect basestation normally connected to a voip gateway (I can still make a pstn call via a dialling plan) I need to hard wire a basic old analogue phone direct to test socket to verify before chasing up a further fault.
What kind of problem would cause a disconnect and really slow upstream, but leave downstream seemingly unaffected?
Thanks
Nigel.
