im using a 2wire router though, best ones out their for long lines.

The figure only shows your actual sync rate rather than your throughput. Your actual download rate will be lower than your sync rate and significantly so in some cases. Do you have any speed test results? Who is your ISP and is your service delivered over IPStream or LLU?

..attenuation goes along the bottom. Your modem is currently achieving a very good connection for your line characteristics. It might be worth plugging the modem into the test socket behind your faceplate. Given how well your modem is performing on that line I doubt it will make much difference though.

Whether or not your current ISP lets you make best use of that is another matter. The general rule is that you only get 85% of your sync speed in actual throughput (you lose 15% to various 'overheads'). Judging from your posted speed test results you're not far off that. It's a bit below but most ISPs experience a dip in speed during the evening because that's peak time.
