yes, the router is plugged into the NTE, I've a solwise version that has the integral uFilter. but I did wonder about the stats. hence I've got a ticket open regarding this issue.

I wonder if this router has a slightly iffy ADSL interface, that's taken a hit from something on the line in a previous life. as the stats did look a little odd compared with 837 when it was running on an 8Mb service. I wasn't exactly sure what the 22538kbps was, Thank you clarifying that.
I'm not CCNA, but can just about glue/hack a config together and debug it and leaning about ADSL in a cisco world.

I only have cco access to cisco hence why the firmware is only at .33, I understand there's 4.x around, but I can only find the version 4 for the 837 in the wild.

"plastic box" routers, always imho seem to have other issues that'll be fixed in the next realease, (as well as cooking themselves) and cannot and will not offer the sort of feature that Cisco software dose.
Plus, the 837, togther with a Prosfe WAP, was the most stable thing I ever used, uptime of well over 12 months, I had interface up times of several months... I've not come across a white netgear/thomson that'll do that...

In the absence of a sensible answer to the question about your ISP, I suggest you try a plastic-box alternative router based on a Broadcom chipset to help isolate where the problem is. Maybe your ISP has provided one, but so far you haven't tried it.

the 19 dB downstream margin is the odd one, if you restart the interface (or the box) does it go back to the same figure ?

Could flash the sky dg834 with dgteam firmware, gives you a lot more options to tweak? I don't know what is on it under sky, but I brought an ex sky router and flashed it with that, works fine.

ive got the 877 annex m, wireless g, euro spec one

although my connection seems to be more stable with the cisco, my sync rate is allot slower than my o2 wireless box III, i think it down to the chipset and the extensions on the dslam

you'd be fighting an up hill battle trying to get o2 to loosen its grip! id like to use my cisco too, seem to handle everything allot better than this o2box

but then you come up against the dreded "loss of routing" problem

ive havnt tried the v4 of the modem firmware, ive read that it reduces sync further to enhance stability, let me now how it goes i may give it a whirl
