SNR has gone really poor

I noticed that my sync speed has recently decreased due to my SNR struggling. I found a text file with my sync speeds and snr levels from 12 months ago and there is a pretty big difference. I have just a master socket, no extensions and nothing else plugged in to the filter, I am using the same router as before. I had an adslnation X85 filter and today I replaced it with the XFE-2005 which has made no difference.

12 months ago these were my sync speeds

6592/8.5 30/11/08
6336/9.1 15/12/08
6496/9.7 17/12/08

I discovered that now my target snr is 15 (a forced resync gives me 2000 kbps). Using DMT and setting the slider to min I get 3872 with an SNR of 9.8. So, I upgrade the routers fw to the unofficial DG834GT DGTeam firmware to reduce the SNR further. I also tried telnet "adslctl configure --snr " to give it a target of 6dB.

Now the best I can achieve is:

4384/5.7
4288/5.3
4736/3.6

My SNR is slightly higher in the mornings. But, obviously, with a SNR this low I am more prone to resyncs/drops. The sync is 2meg lower than 12 months ago and that's with forcing the SNR to a very low level.

I can also look at my ADSLMax reports from my ISP UKFSN and see that my sync was fine some time ago (some examples below):

ok, so some of those are low but it's a cross section and that's with no SNR tweaking.


Any ideas what the problem might be?

Nope, I forgot to mention that I had checked that.

A rising target SNR margin is an indicator for poor line stability. You should contact your ISP.
