Strange MAC code issue

[link to this post]

I Have tonight order BT broadband option 3 as im cancelling my ADSL 24 LLU connection and have my MAC code from them?

I have input all my usual details and have placed my order tonight:

Name
Address
Phone number
etc

But im at the end of the order process and havent been asked for MAC code?

Also it seems other ISPs (O2) arent asking for a MAC code either i quote:

we dont always ask for a MAC code, but if we need it we will contact you, have you ever heard of this when migrating as i havent?

I have also sent BT support a email tonight with my MAC code as i find this strange has anyone else had a similar issue when migrating

if your moving to an "upto 20mb" connection then its because you will be moved onto totally new equipment at the exchange so no code is needed

Hi thanks for the reply, yes the connection is up to 20mb so your saying a MAC code isnt needed then?

Will i now have to contact my current provider ADSL 24 and cancel my connection or will my cuurent connection be still disconnected when my BT broadband connection goes live?

Hi,

I would suggest that once you have the dates for the transfer that you contact ADSL24 and give them the notice that is required by your contract with them, telling them you are moving to BT. Theoretically they should inform each other, but it does not always work and you get horror stories of people being charged for months after transfer by their old ISP and struggling to get the money back.

So to keep it as neat and tidy as possible give notice to your old ISP when you know the connection date. smile
