Ring wire removal

[link to this post]

Hi before i go pulling wires out of the phone I want to make sure i'm removing the right one first.

My phone line comes in from a overhead cable then enters the house into these two boxes

It then goes to this socket

Inside the socket

Wires 2(blue), 3 (orange) and 5 (blue and white) are connected. I guess i should remove wire 3 (orange)?

Yes thats right, pull out the orange wire. As there are only one set of wires connected at that socket, and as the ring line is connected, I assume you have other extension sockets connected to the joint boxes? If this is so, then check them to ensure they are proper extension sockets (no components) if in doubt remove the ring line from them as well .
