Nokia N810 email application wont connect to talktalk router

i have a nokia N810 internet tablet and since changing my broadband to talktalk, my email application wont connect.

my N810 will connect via wifi to my router but when i click the send\receive button on the email application, nothing happens. it does work if i connect via bluetooth and use the internet connection on my phone. it also worked fine on wifi before i switched to talktalk. this leads me to believe there is a seting somewhere on my router config that is blocking my N810's email appliction.

does anyone know what the problem could be?

It could be that TalkTalk are blocking access to the server, though it's usually only the SMTP port which gets blocked.

Is it POP3 email?

i use a pop3 account on a private server and have tried my gmail account using pop3 as well as imap, none of which work. i can access all email accounts using my phone or a computer so the problem has to be something to do with my nokia n810 communicating with the router
