ping router and gateway issues

[link to this post]

I have a problem about pinging my local router as well as the isp gateway.
I am with be
regularly I get random timeouts on both pings. sometime 2 or 3 timeouts other times more
I have had a new router from be but the problem persists.
Until recently, I have had no such problems
Anyone come across this situation or if anyone has any suggestions, that would be a great help
Thanks

Ping is a low priority packet so if the router is busy doing other stuff then it will generally ignore pings. Could be that Be have changed a router config and it has been told to not respond to pings.
I'm on O2 and the next two hops on from my router don't respond to pings.

What I have is a TG585 v7
firmware 8.2.23.0
Is there a way of finding out if the router is busy?
Thanks
Auni

Thomsons are not the best router for pings, they have a bug in the firmware which gives an oddly high number.

If you are running anything like torrent software you can bet the router has loads of connections in it's NAT table, there is a cli command to show how many connections are in use but I can't remember what it is.

Durr, should have known it was: connection stats

Thanks I will try that.
I am thinking of getting a Draytek 2710n
Has anyone had any experience with this router on BE?
