Opinions on these stats?

[link to this post]

When we originally moved into this house 4 yrs ago I used to get a solid 8128 sync. A while back though for some unknown reason, my line suddenly switched to interleaved mode. Although I don't know what the stats were before, here's what they are now

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7552 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 24 db 7.5 db
Noise Margin 6 db 26 db

My router is the same Netgear DG834G I've always used and the filters are the ones I got when I originally joined my ISP (Zen) back in 2003. Any idea if/how I can get back onto Fast mode and my previous speed?

Tried connecting at the test socket, if you have one?

Ooh yeah. forgot to mention that. Connected to the test socket (via a filter obviously) gave the same stats

Your ISP will be able to do this for you smile Just ask them to turn interleaving off.

Only other things to try are a different filter (or do away with it for testiing) and another router.
Failing that there is nothing much else you can do.
The effects of increased take up and more recent xDSL variants will increase X-talk for some and reduce connection rates.

No filter at all? I did that once a couple of months ago accidentally and it only synced at 4 meg. As soon as I put it back in I was back at 7.5

Yeah, that's what I did. Just a filter and the router

You don't actually need a filter if nothing else is connected. An old 56k modem lead would do fine, if you have one, just to rule out the filter as a possible cause.
