4 Master sockets of which 3 are used as slave extensions

[link to this post]

Help. Ive followed alot of posts on this forum but dont seem to be getting anywhere.
My internal wiring is weird (i think)
I have 4 NTE5 master plates. 1 is used as a BT Master, the other 3 are used as extensions. All extensions have filters.
I need my Netgear DGN2000 router at one of the extensions where i have my PS3.

Ive disconnected the ringwire from IDC#3 at the master and tried an ADSLnation XTE-2005. Ive made sure the extension wiring is connected to the unfiltered IDC A and B.
But the speed remains at 8-9mb at the extensions.
Ive read about removing the capicitors, diodes and resistors on each of the NTE5 extensions.
Is this necessary? Does this cause some kind of interference?

replace them with standard socket faceplates, simples.

If the speed is 8-9M at the extensions what is it at the proper incoming master NTE ?

Only the master should have the capacitor, OOS resistor and spark gap. Putting four of those in parallel will cause a few minor problems on voice and possibly ADSL - it looks like a low impedance circuit and effectively adds attenuation at certain frequencies. Remove the components in the three extensions - the spark gap can remain as it does nothing in normal service.

Thanks

The faceplace screwholes wont match a standard extension socket.

the test socket gives 15mb

NTE5's go in standard backboxes, so an extension socket of the appropriate size will fit nicely.

I reckon the op is trying to screw the faceplate directly onto the backplate. smile

For World Champion bodging, the NTE5 gubbins including the hidden socket will simply unclip from the rear of the NTE5 and you can then wire directly to the faceplate. smile
