Burst of speed

[link to this post]

My normal connection speed as shown on the Thinkbroadband speed test is around 1640Kbps give or take 10. About a month ago, one Saturday morning I suddenly recorded a speed of 1872 Kbps. BT say my line has a maximum speed of 2Mbps and their engineer is always surprised I get 1.6 as the line has so many repairs and splices. Can anyone explain my sudden burst of speed?

Possibly an increase in IP profile from 1750kbps to 2000kbps

What data do you get from this test?

Just ran the test. Says Download speed during the test was 1610 Kbps. Acceptable range 400-2000Kbps
DSL connection rate 2080 Kbps downstream 448 Kbps upstream
IP profile for the line is 1750 Kbps

That's usefull but now we need to get the line stats to see if the sync rate can be increased/improved which if high enough will give an IP profile of 2000Kbps, that sync rate will have to be from 2272Kbps to 2816Kbps.

Use this to get line stats.
