External BT connection help (pole to house)

[link to this post]

Hi folks,

Haven't posted here for a while, but hoping someone can help me out. Some detail, followed by question:

Some years ago, BT fitted some kind of junction box to the outside of my house where the phone line comes in from the pole in the street. It comes from the pole, to this junction box (which is attached to my fascia board just beneath the guttering) and then inside my loft onwards. Previously, it just used to come in through a small hole in the fascia (no junction box).

I noticed today that the lid for this box has disappeared, so you can see the wiring inside. Pretty trivial I'm sure, but I'd prefer to get it sorted - I'm sure the lid was there to keep the elements out, and I don't wanna suddenly lose my phone/ADSL when the water gets to it!

I've tried phoning BT (0800 800 151) - they told me to call 0800 023 2023, but the guys here claimed they just deal with "dangerous" cabling, so they gave me the number of the "ENR team" (??), 0800 917 7381.

My question - does anybody know if this last number is the correct one to call, if not, does anybody have any idea which part of BT I need to contact? I thought this would be pretty simple, but it's shaping up to be a pain.

Thanks in advance...

Paul

You probably do not need to worry about it.

I have had a similar situation on both of my lines (same box) for 3 years now, with no effect on ADSL or 'phone service.

Line One:- Zen - DrayTek Vigor 2600VG
Line Two:- EntaNet - DrayTek Vigor 2600

The drop wire will be connected to the internal wire using special crimps which form a very tight seal and are filled with petroleum jelly to keep moisture out. In a few years after several summers of blazing sun and hammering rain, you might have a problem, but not now.
