Re: Line Sync problems - gradual decrease over last month

Exactly the same situation with TalkTalk being the only LLU on my exchange and CPW also being on that to be enabled list but then disappearing. I am considering going for a TalkTalk reseller and giving LLU a try.

Sadly the issue dosent seem to have resolved itself, I have a ticket open with my ISP though it would appear that theres absolutely nothing being done about this specific issue as I have recieved no call backs about it.

In light of this I did a bit more googling today and found some reference to my issue on plusnet forums. Ill link them below should anyone be interested - the second thread in particular seems to point to the cause - the first one at least confirms im not going mad and others have experienced this issue! . (hope im not breaking any rules linking to another forum!)

Somewhere in these threads someone mentioned they had had the capping removed, I shall try that when i chase up my ISP tomorrow. Glad I have found this as, to be honest, I was beginning to run out of hope of them fixing it off thier own backs or at the very least telling me what the issue was.

I'm having similar problems. Happily had a sync. rate of over 11Mbps on ADSLMax, running on FastPath (Non-Interleaved).

Moved over to 21CN (WBC) earlier this year and the Sync. gradually dropped below 10Mbps and Interleave kicked in. Since these are perfectly reasonable numbers and I'd have Connection Uptimes running into several days, there didn't seem to be a problem. I even got the Interleave taken off the line and still managed fairly healthy uptimes of 2 or 3 days between disconnects regularly. Downstream Margins were steady at about 11db on Attenuation of 18db.

However just recently my line went completely crazy, dropping connections every few minutes. At first I thought I had a loose cable between the router and the (Master) socket, but having checked that I still couldn't maintain a connection. Eventually the DLM took my line back down to a 'Banded Profile' of 3Mbps - 6Mbps with a Sync. Rate of about 5.5Mbps reporting a DS Margin of about 20db.

Although this line remained stable for days at a time the banding wasn't removed (perhaps because I didn't have a 14-day Uptime?) so I had Tech Support put a call in to get it shifted. Lo and behold my line Sync'ed back at 11Mbps, but then wouldn't stay up for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time so I got the Interleaving put back on, at which point it dropped to 9.5Mbps, which seemed to be much more stable.

It still disconnects approximately every 24 - 36 hours, but that's not really a big inconvenience when browsing, however this evening all of a sudden, having been up for 18 hours with SNR in the 15db region it has dropped the line down to 4.3Mbps on a lower 'banded profile', and I'm more or less back to where I started a month ago frown

ISP Tech Support says there are significant errors reported on the line stats which are causing the DLM to throttle back my connection rate and BRAS, however my router stats don't seem to be particularly bad

For an Uptime of over 9 hours I would have thought the above was more than respectable, but for some reason the DLM is convinced my line is a piece of garbage and has slashed my Sync rate to half of that reported in the Stats above! frown

I would upgrade my router firmware in the hope that a later version would assist in line stability but to do so risks a) 'bricking' the router completely and b) triggering even more punitive DLM action because I'm taking the router offline to do the upgrade. Which means one can only look at one thing at a time over several days because you need a good 48-72 hours of test data minimum to work with, and too much messing about with your router and connection only makes things worse! Aaargghhhh!

Ooops! Err, I have no excuse, that was silly! Got my technologies and chronologies confused blush

What I meant to say was I happily sync'ed at 8128 for days, nay weeks on end under ADSLMax, and initially at over 11Mbps when first on ADSL2+, but it's all gone a bit to cr/\p from there on frown
