Variable ADSL Speeds

Since returning from a month's holiday a fortnight ago I am puzzled by the download speeds which I am getting. The day I returned the download speed was a record 2336Kbps, not bad for a 2meg connection. Two days later it was 331kbps and since then it has varied between 479Kbps and 1508Kbps until today when it rose to 1871Kbps this morning but has since dropped to 626Kbps.
What can cause such a wide variation in speed over such a short period?

As 'batboy' says you seem to have asked similar questions before!

Looking at your previous posts; you've had replies (some of them mine ) which you haven't followed up. So it looks like you need to re-read some of the previous advice about IP Profiles and line optimisation...

If you were on a fixed speed 2Meg sync connection before, the line stats would suggest your connection is now ADSL Max up to 8Meg.
