Trial BT profile

I have been getting unusual IP Profiles reported from the BT speedtester site,
DSL-2848 Profile 2500, overnight automatically resynced to DSL 3040 and profile 2681 and a few nights later automatically resynced to 3104 and profile 2738 ( all kbps). As suggested on Kitz's website these are all very close to profile being 88% of DSL. My question is - should this result in an increase in download speed. As it is my ISP has a profile system based on the old 500kbps intervals and I am not seeing any change.

Are you on WBC ADSL2+ or IPStream ADSL Max?

I've found since I was forced onto WBC by Orange that my IP Profile is always 88% of Sync. I believe the old stepped IP Profiles are only applicable to IPStream.

According to Plusnet I am on WBC ADSL1

If it's the right flavour of Netgear Check ADSL Mode (on top of Interleaving) might tell you.
