No Line on Telephone - Bt Master socket also burnt out

Hi guys,

Looking for some advice.

I have no line error (written on screen) on my phone line and no dial tone, but when i check the test socket once removing the half section there is a dial tone.

There is only 1 extension on it, which supplies the router, but this extension also does not work via phone, but does work on BB

There is a burnt out connection on the lower terminals inside the master socket so not sure if this is effecting it.


My phoneline is with Sky, so not sure if connect them or BT as its their box.

Any help would be great, do not want to be charged a call out fee

For phone faults you telephone who ever you pay the line rental to, they arrange the right people to come out.

If, subject to the picture that Mr Saffron has asked for, it is only a damaged faceplate BT will charge for that. Faceplates are available online

Looking at the photos, not sure that is not just dirty, but if your convinced it is burnt it needs replacing. See here

Looking at the wiring you have two extensions, is that correct?

The white/blue wire for one of the extensions (on the faceplate) does not look to be fully into the IDC connector, I would gently push it home.

Also check that the only wires connected in the extensions are the blue/white and the white/blue in terminal 2 & 5. If the ring wire (terminal 3) is connected in the extensions it will still feed interference into the system and hence to the router.
