21CN - ADSL 2+ with a Thomson 585 v6 - firmware 6.1.4.3

Plusnet have advised me that I should be upgraded to 21CN - ADSL 2+, in the next few weeks.
At the moment I'm using a Thomson 585 v6 with firmware 6.1.4.3 on 'up to' 8 Mb.
Will this be compatible with ADSL 2+?.

The other concern I have is that I'm a good 2 miles from the exchange with a reported attenuation up/down of 24/43 db on 7488 with a down SNR typically of 8 db. Interleaving on.

With the Thomson and DMT I have in the past tweaked the Target SNM, which I believe I won't be able to do on ADSL 2+.
I haven't lost sync for 185 days since the last re-boot I initiated.
I am not using DMT to increase the Target SNM, as I have at times in the past ie to improve reliability.
When I have achieved higher speeds, which I probably would now if I re-booted, the connection has been less reliable and I would rather avoid the Target SNM increasing and dropping my speed for extended periods.

Am I likely to get much of an increase in speed or is it likely that I could get a less reliable connection ?.

I have a Billion 7402 VL which is over 5 years old, have upgraded the firmware to what I believe is the latest ie 552g and I believe I could use that instead if need be although it's obviously a good age - similar to the Thomson when I think about it.

Any advice appreciated.

The 585v6 will work fine with ADSL2+

SNR tweaking should still be the same in theory though the line will be more sensitive.

You won't gain much, if anything, on ADSL2+. You attn. will go up to about 46 dB.

I would have thought there was room for a little improvement there.

But more importantly won't a move to ADSL2+ also allow his line access to the better DLM other goodies that BT only provide on 21CN?

Depends if his line is currently unstable.

and a 7.4mbps sync rate

surely there would be some gains to be had.

From the OPs comments it sounds pretty stable to me!

The proof will be in the pudding! OP is already getting a very high sync for his attn.
