Maximum monthly usage

Ello all.

If the best speed my connection can manage is 3MB/s, how much of my 60GB usage allowance might I use in one month? I know this question seeks a rough answer from a specific situation, but I'm sure there's an answer.

I download about 1 film a month, occasionally some music, my housemate about the same - the most intensive use is streaming video on Youtube, or sports betting sites.

Just wondering, seeing as I'm pretty sure I haven't exceeded my 60GB usage allowance by >10GB every month since I joined, as I've been billed by my ISP.

3 MBs is 3/8 million bytes per second.

x 3600 per hour
x 24 per day
x 31 per month

Therefore 3/8 x 3600 x 24 * 31 million bytes per month or 1004, 400, 000, 000 bytes

Say 1000 GB per month.

Say 1TB

1TB.

Now say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards.

The 1000 GB is the maximum you can use if you left it pulling down 3Mbps all the time.

Or to put it another way, to use the 70GB you have been told you are, then if streaming video at 3Mbps (which is easily possible with youtube and the 720p/1080p options) then 53 hours of watching youtube content.

A film can be 1GB through to 8GB.
Each music track 5MB

So it can quickly add up.

I think the problem may be that I'm being charged for the time 'they' say is free - 'overnight usage' - as the online hours compared to these figures suggest that I'm probably just within the chargeable limit, but being billed for extra.

A good few generations now removed from Scotland, so not sure of original location

If the bills cover BST it may be that their billing stays fixed on GMT perhaps.
