Video capture e.g. U-Tube to pc

This must have been forum'd but where, have searched

Simply put, I can get U-tube or BBC streaming into my XP pc & it will be full of vision & sound. Of course it will. I can even capture just the sound alone using my Audigy-2 sound card, brilliant. But how do I capture vision as well? Is this a software thingy or is hardware required?

(btw I can connect a VHS-VCR to transfer its tapes as a full video file, in MPEG4, on my XP pc using a USB2 device but cannot understand if & how I can use this to capture in-coming streaming video file from such as U-tube, am I just plain thick)

you could use keepvid.com for youtube videos and i am not sure about iplayer at the moment.

I have used Freemake in the past for capturing youtube videos.

Thanks, tried this download. My AV prog (ESET) quarantined it due to quote multiple threats unquote

Out of ideas but the iplayer thing I might try in a minute. No way of telling the antivirus program it is ok to install or turn that off while installing and pull out the network cable from the computer or the wireless card turn off, no link to the outside world then!.

Going to have a try now just for interest. Not my question or started this but interested now and so will try. An activity before getting the dinner on.

To complicated. I like the monkey proof "setup.exe" thing to click.

Is a zip file so ok can do that but need to run scripts and mess around to much looking at some help sheet.
