BT Master Socket

Hello all.

I've just purchased this master socket from eBay and wondered if it was compatible with my BT line. Where we are, we have a pre-2000 box in the roof and a socket that comes down into the main area. The socket is looking tired and yellow and felt it needed replacing with a newer equivalent.

Would appreciate any responses.

Well, it's a master socket including master socket components: Ring capacitor - 1.8uF, Resistor - 470KOhm, Surge arrestor - Type 11A.

Well, there's a grey box in the roof that the alarm is hard-wired into. Yes, we have ADSL.

Is it possible to post your line stats reported by your router?

Just puzzled by a few things.

Where did you find the spec, as I can't, and it's almost unbelieveable. 99p including postage and packing, and almost certainly too thick for (standard) letter.

I wonder what the socket is that he is replacing.

I just googled it, dunno where I found it. I notice it's got IDC connectors.

I wonder if the alarm is causing low sync or instability?

The alarm has now been filtered, but I have a question. Is an NTE5 socket large in terms of width and height than a normal standardized socket (e.g. a telephone socket, plug socket, light switch, etc. ?

Same size and same fixing centres.
