Internet keeps dropping out on downloading something?

Hi there

I have Sky broadband, and this has been happening for a couple of weeks (i have spoken to sky but they don't seem to have an idea) But have got back in touch with them and asked for them to refer me to their ''technicians''.

Basically, when i download something, it starts fine, but then the KB/s start dropping to nothing, then the download just dies.

Below is the statistics from my router setting page:

I have done all of the resetting router,putting into main BT phone point etc, disconnecting everything else... still not working.

Any help greatly appreciated because i am getting fed up with this now.

When the download dies are the noise margin figures the same as the screenshot, if yes, then its not the phone line but some other factor.

can you show us the error counters off the router stats too.

If you download a big file from http://www.thinkbroadband.com/download/ using the different port options do they behave the same

Hi guys, thanks for reply's, i will try and get this information now. By the way, what does ''using the different port options'' mean, i have tried downloading those test files yesterday, and it behaved the same yes, died quite quickly.

in the centre column are options to connect to the server with different ports for the download

for example http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com:8080/1GB.zip is downloaded using port 8080 rather than port 80. If you get different outcomes it may point to traffic shaping or a similar port-specific issue.

Antivirus products can affect downloads too.
