Need to reboot modem on a daily basis

Hello

I normally get 3.6 Mbps and it seems to go fine but then every so often pages don't load and the only way to resolve the issue is to restart the modem ( not the router as it's separate )
I looked for errors in the modem log but there's nothing.

I went on the BT site to check for issues and it said that if there is an issue is probably in my home..
I have an open reach socket already but I added the accelerator i-plate to make the line even more stable. No dice...


I am at loss I am not sure how to make it better.

Do you see anything that wouldpoint to an issue? The modem it's a basic TP-link adsl 2+ modem

Any reason you're using a separate modem/router?
You could try a combined unit and see how that does.

Have you checked to see if there's a firmware update which could fix problems such as this?

If might be worth posting the modem model details so people can see what device you are using

If so does the ADSL connection report it is still working.

Some people swear by the two box modem and router solution, but my experience is that you tend to up with situations like you have, and they are nothing to do with the ADSL line.

The connection speeds are pretty good for the length of the line, so nothing wrong there. There is some CRC errors but without knowing how long the modem has been running hard to say it its a high or low number.

Ok middling level of errors.

The fact you can get to the web interface and see ADSL stats suggests no issue with the ADSL side and probably (note probable is not a guarantee) that the issue is down to the negotiation/handling of link between modem and the router.

Just as a follow up these are the stats after a reboot of the modem this morning:

CRC : Down :38196 Up:58

The CRC errors seem to increase in large bursts. For example in 6-7 minutes went from 25412 to 38196.
I did a quite line test and I do ear some popping sound. Similar to popcorn when they almost finished popping...

BTW I have another line into my house that I use for work and that works with no issue, I can't remember last time I had to reboot the modem router. though the provider is not BT.

If it is a negotiation issue between the router ASUS RT-N66U and the modem and the TP-Link modem what should I do. I see no leading errors.

Leave a long ping running and see if any significant packet loss particularly during noise bursts. Usual response to noise is slow down line so noise has less effect.

Modems should recover after a bug burst but it is possible your setup is adding to the issue by breaking. Only way to check that is different hardware
