Hi, I'm wondering if any of you could shed some light on an issue my dad is having with his broadband. It started around 5 months ago and still continues today after 8 years of trouble free connection.
We have just had a BT engineer around to the property to check it out and it has left him baffled too. His broadband is Bt up to 8mb non fibre and his speeds alter from 7meg down to 0.08mb with seemingly random occurence.
Line stats suggest the line is very stable:
Line state: Connected
Connection time: 0 days, 01:20:33
Downstream: 7.938 Mbps
Upstream: 448 Kbps
ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI: 0/38
Type: PPPoA
Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
Latency type: Fast
Noise margin (Down/Up): 10.0 dB / 25.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up): 27.9 dB / 15.0 dB
Output power (Down/Up): 19.9 dBm / 12.3 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up): 0 / 0
CRC Events (Down/Up): 9 / 0
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
HEC Events (Down/Up): 5 / 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 8 / 0
Bt have changed the box on the wall, the router, the points at the exchange etc. and we still have very erratic broadband. His computer is ethernet connected and my iphone gives similar speed test results.
When its at its slowest the ping is very high (around 5-700ms).
Any ideas? Thanks in advance Gareth
