Just to help(confuse!) you more...
You are able to use the modem without a router if that helps your situation.
You just use your PC to create the PPPoE login.

NB. It sounds as if you are a BT customer as you mention "home hub"?
BT supply free kit to their customers so you might like to look at that smile

I am actually a Plusnet customer. Started with BT asdl to BT FTTC to Plusnet FTTC. My whole reason for asking was ..
1) I get very slow FTTC speeds so I was wondering if I could just use a single ADSL modem/router as the speeds would not be that fast anyway.
2) I'm going to unlock my HG612 and thought if I messed it up then I might have a second option.
