Yesterday afternoon and again this afternoon I've had problems with my Plusnet 40/20 fibre connection. Whilst testing with TBB Speed Tester it starts off and then within a second or two drops to 0 and hangs. At the same time BTW Speed Tester is giving me:-
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
35.84 Mbps
37.05 Mbps Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 35.84 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 25.93 Mbps-37.05 Mbps .
Additional Information: IP Profile for your line is - 37.05 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
6.59 Mbps
20 Mbps Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 6.59Mbps
Additional Information: Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
BTW shows latency in the first part of the test at 21.5 ms.
Things seemed OK this morning but around lunchtime my BQM started showing significant packet loss.
Yesterday I was watching Netflix on the TV and for the first time ever it started buffering and the quality dropped to the extent that I didn't want to watch any more.
Does the TBB Speed Tester just give up if it detects a problem - perhaps excessive latency?
