How is FTTP implemented?

Quite a strange question, but haven't been able to find out using Google (other search engines are available...)

With FTTP do they run a fibre connection to the cabinet, and then one from there to the posy/premises, or is it one long connection from the exchange?

Only asking because the Openreach engineer connecting up our new fibe box mentioned that some of the people on the box will have to be fibre all the way to the premises, and it didn't occur to ask the question at the time.

For fttp the cabinet is not involved

Basically , both fttp and fttc connect to a point called an aggregation node which is essentially the end of a main fibre cable going back to the headend exchange
Fttc will have cabinet between the AG node and end users, fttp will have splitters, fibre DPs and manifolds.
