New cabinet installed how long until faster speeds?

Hi all.

I've tried searching but can't turn up answers. My fttc has just switched to accepting orders. If I don't go with fibre how long would it usually take\do I need to do anything for my standard sky broadband to go up to the 17mbit connection. Will this happen at all of an i best off upgrading to fibre. 17 is fine for me.

You need to place an order for anything to change.

Was hoping with already having sky unlimited it would have went up. ill get on the pphone and order today thanks

There are a lot of people (don't feel daft), that think their speed will magically increase when fibre becomes available to them. As much as I wish it was like that, you can just imagine the problems it would cause. So, yes you have to place an order.

You're best off placing an order for fibre, otherwise nothing will change.

Looking at the SKY UNLIMITED advert -

That suggests that you are already on Broadband -

"Get totally unlimited broadband with absolutely no usage caps"

I think you need to clarify exactly what you are on at present.

A key thing is that the installation of an FTTC cabinet for FTTC service won't make your ADSL service from the exchange any faster.

To take advantage of any speed increases you need to move to the FTTC service.

Agreed with your comment; and also that with the typical FTTC VDSL connection, the Filter-Link in the FTTC will actually prevent the E-side ADSL getting any closer to the subscriber's D-Side and house.
