SPEED INCREASE..?

A bit of background facts, I am on an E.O line of circa >6km..

Usually synch. at 1-1.5 mbps. with 6dB SNRM. Showing 70.4dB Atten.

This morning my very elderly 2Wire HGB router rebooted, on synching up I noticed

2113mbps @6.3 dB SNRM.

Been like this for a couple of hours.

I am puzzled

Maybe less cross talk, or a noise source has gone away or a switch from ADSL to ADSL2 or ADSL2+

Have been on ADSL2 for a long time now, always has been a very troublesome line.

It is still stable on 2113mbps since 09:15

"Spoke too soon" at 17:46 I noticed that the SNRM had dropped to 1.8dB, It is now 19:29
and the SNRM has increased very slightly to 2.2dB, the router is hanging on, but almost
unusable with a huge amount of CRC & FEC's.

Time for a re-synch.

That modem will hang on to the line even with a 0dB margin or as I found even less with -0.7dB at one time.
